Artist: SHANE PERLOWIN
Title: The Vacancy In Every Verse
Label: Open Letter 01 Country: USA
Format: CD Status: AVAILABLE $10.00
Description: Featuring Shane Perlowin on guitar with Joseph Burkett on bass and Ryan Oslance on drums. Shane Perlowin plays lead guitar with the amazing Ahleuchatistas, guitar-led power trio from North Carolina with five great discs on the Cuneiform & Tzadik labels. Shane plays most of the sounds on this disc with a rhythm team on just four of the ten songs. It says that there are no overdubs here which sounds surprising since Shane likes to add layers of guitar parts. Shane's impressive guitar playing seems to include the speed of Mick Barr, with the textures of Henry Kaiser or the bent notes of Fred Frith. On the solo pieces Shane piles up a few different lines or layers of fractured notes. He employs an impressive mass of strange sounds on the title track, yet adds some peaceful moments to balance things out. This is a most impressive solo offering from another great guitarist worth checking out. - Bruce Lee Gallanter, Downtown Music Gallery
